tonight jesse jackson jr. is working out a plea deal on charges of misusing campaign funds. jackson was re-elected to congress tuesday despite missing the last five months for treatment of bipolar disorder. he's accused of using campaign cash for personal expenses including imprivatement to his home in d.c. -- improvements to his home in d.c. the chicago affiliate says the plea deal would likely include jail time and require him to resign from congress. >>> it took four days, but now we know officially that president obama won the state of florida in tuesday's presidential election. florida didn't finish counting its absentee or provisional ballots until today. after record turnout with more than eight million ballots cast, the president beat mitt romney by about 74,000 votes. it's a big enough margin to avoid an automatic recount. the president won every swing state according to nbc news, except north carolina. >>> some residents along the new jersey coast got to return home today. residents of long beach island were allowed back for good. residents of seaside heights were escorted in by

rock and jackson. the roads are blocked off. there's plenty of police activity here. there is a body laying in the middle of the street. there is a yellow tarp on top of it. we don't know if it's a man or a woman. right now, we just have limited information. but police do tell us around 6:00 a.m. this was a pedestrian crossing the street and hit by a car. we know that the car took off so they are investigating this as a hit and run. at this point, we do not have a description of that car or the driver and, again, we don't have any information on the victim but i just got off the phone with the police spokesperson who tells me that he is en route and will be filling us in on the details. right now, the own -- only the eastbound lanes of jackson avenue are open and the westbound lanes are closed. back out here are live. you can see, police are directing traffic. they are trying to keep people away from the scene because this is still active and they are investigating. we don't know if rain played a factor. it's drizzling out here right now. we're not sure if it is slick roads. we hope

of allen rock and jackson in san jose. we're waiting for the coroner to arrive to complete their part of the investigation and remove the body, as you can see, it is still in the middle of the road. it appears this person was carrying a backpack of some sort, perhaps trying to cross the street when they were hit and killed. this was a hit and run. police are looking for that driver. the only description they have is the dark colored vehicle heading wet bound on allen rock. we understand at least one witness who flagged down a bus, offer help, was able to identify the car. route 70 by the way is being rerouted. a investigation will focus on the road conditions at the time. it was just after 6:00 this happened so it was still dark out and most likely raining at the time. you can see, it's been raining off and on. so whether weather conditions played a role in the accident will be part of the investigation, also determine how much information the witness will be able to give because it was so hard to see at the time. reporting live, "nbc bay area news." >>> line 522 and 23 have been also
